Anzac Day 2009

Shane Coles is heading to Melbourne on the 25 April to photograph the 2009 Anzac Day parade. He will be driving to Essendon then catching train into the city. CBCC Wins Interclub with Ballarat YMCA

Saturday 21st March. CBCC defeated Ballarat YMCA Camera Group by the smallest possible margin in our annual inter club  competition. The overall point scores were CBCC 422 to Ballarat 421.

Despite Ballarat winning four out of the five sections, CBCC won the last section by enough to take out the overall prize.

Large prints open: Ballarat 110 - CBCC 109
Projected images “Worn by the Weather”: Ballarat 53 - CBCC 53

Ballarat members also took out the best image prizes in four of the five sections, with Wayne Harris winning the Projected images “worn by the weather” section with “Weathered by Nature”.

Advanced Digital Workshop

Ballarat YMCA Camera Group is running an Advanced Digital Photography workshop on Sunday April 19th from 10.00 am till 5.00 pm. Cost is $30 – BYO lunch and camera. Numbers are limited to 16 attendees.

Venue: Kohinoor Community Centre. Corner Errard and Sebastopol Streets Ballarat.

The workshop is being run by Adrian Cooke and will cover:

- How light affects the Visual Elements (Shape, Texture, Form and Colour) in a photograph.
- Understanding ‘Hyperfocal Distance’ to help control ‘Depth of Field’.
- Controlling ‘Perspective’ by changing lens focal lengths and the camera to subject distance.
- Creating a greater ‘Colour Space’ (and more accurate colours) by using Adobe RGB
- Using ‘Raw’ files to control the exposure range of digital images.
- Composition and the Personal Viewpoint.
- Developing the ‘Photographic Eye’ and learning to see ‘Pictorially’.

There will also be two practical exercises: “The Professional Portrait” and “Texture – Pattern – Shape – Repetition”.

Note – this is not a course for beginners. Participants will need to know how to operate their camera in manual mode.

Best of the 2008 Head On

The Best of the 2008 Head On competition will be shown at 12.30 p.m., prior to the VAPS Half Yearly General Meeting at the Melbourne Camera Club on 5th April 2009.

“Head On” is an annual national photographic portrait competition and exhibition representing a diverse cross-section of new and traditional photographic practices.

Australia Day - Jan 26

This year's Hanging Rock races on Australia Day (Jan 26) have been relocated to Kyneton due to damage to the track. The general consensus of members was that we should instead have an informal BBQ at Osborne House starting at around 6.00 pm. BYO food and drinks. We will have a BBQ on site. [more]

Christmas Breakup - 04/12/11

2011 Three Way Long Distance Interclub

Geelong Interclub Results

The annual CBCC/Geelong Interclub was held at the Geelong CC rooms on Wednesday 19th October, with Geelong winning both the Print and Projected Image sections.
