The Australian Photographic Society is Australia’s own national photographic organisation. The aim of the Society is to promote, improve, share and enjoy photography in Australia offering many extensive services, all specifically designed to improve photography and photographic skills. Membership is open to all – international exhibitors, beginners, amateurs and professionals.A number of CBCC members participate in the APS.
FIAP – Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique – www.fiap.net/index-en.html
The FIAP is an international federation which affiliates as operational members, the national associations of photography. FIAP counts more than 85 national associations in the five continents and represents the benefits of nearly one million individual photographers. The Australian Photographic Society (see APS above) is Australia’s Member body of FlAP.
Flickr – www.flickr.com
Flickr is one of a range of photo sharing websites. A number of CBCC members have a personal photostream on Flickr. Members of Corio Bay Camera Club who have a Flickr account can also can post images to the CBCC Flickr Group.
VAPS – Victorian Association of Photographic Societies – vaps.org.au
VAPS is an affilliation of Victorian camera clubs (including Corio Bay CC) and an incorporated body. It is a “not for profit” organisation, put together principally to manage the promotion of photography for Victorian camera clubs, to give Victorian amateur photographers, through their respective clubs, a collective voice and provide the management facility to stage and participate in large and small-scale events that would normally be beyond the administrative and financial capabilities of any one small group.
VIGEX – Victoria Geelong Exhibition – www.vigex.org.au
VIGEX is a word derived from Victoria Geelong Exhibition and is the only current international photographic exhibition conducted in Victoria. It is a biennial exhibition, first in 1980. That and every subsequent salon has been exhibited at the Geelong Art Gallery. VIGEX has always been a not for profit organisation and is run solely by unpaid volunteers, including several members of CBCC.
