Barry Feldman presented with his medals at Vigex

At the 18th Vigex International Photographic Salon, officially opened by the Mayor of the City of Greater Geelong Cr. Darryn Lyons on Saturday March 28, Barry Feldman was presented with the FIAP Gold Medal for Best print in the People section. Just for good measure, he also took out the Vigex Medal for third place in the same section. As a nice touch, Barry was presented with his medals by Vigex Vice President and CBCC Life Member Bert Spence.

Five other members also gained awards or acceptances. The full list is :

Barry Feldman – FIAP Gold Medal (Best in Section): People, Vigex Medal (3rd place): People, Acceptance: People; Honourable Mention: Monochrome; Acceptance: Monochrome
Bella McRae – Honourable Mention: People.
Christopher Jansen – Acceptance: Nature, Acceptance: Colour
Jack Jansen – Acceptance: Monochrome
Hayley Jones – Acceptance: Monochrome
Colin Klein – Acceptance Colour

The award winning images are now on display at Geelong Art Gallery. The exhibition will run until 3rd May 2015.For more details go to http://www.vigex.org.au

CBCC will also be running and audio visual presentation of all award winners and acceptances at the Osborne House Market on Sunday April 19 from 9.00 am until 1.00 pm and also on Thursday 30 April from 7.30 pm.

Inter-club Competition with Ballarat YMCA CG

On Saturday March 21, a number of members attended the annual inter-club competition with the Ballarat YMCA Camera Group. The competition was an Open subject in two sections – Print and Digital Projected Images.

The special screening of “Finding Vivian Maier” on being organised by Lisa on Tuesday April 21  at the Pivotonian Cinema in Geelong West is virtually sold out. Lisa is also organising a visit to Werribee Zoo with a 90 minute Open Vehicle Tour (allowing you to get closer to the animals than in the big bus).

The First Thursday Workshop scheduled for April 2 has been cancelled

Our next meeting on April 9 will be a practical night at the Geelong Waterfront. Meet at Cunningham Pier at 7.30.

In conjunction with the Osborne House Market on Sunday April 19 we will be showing an AV presentation of all Awards and acceptances from the Vigex Salon. Tell your friends!

On April 30 – a fifth Thursday, we will have a Slide Night – with real slides – so dig into those archives and let’s see what all the fuss was about.
