Christmas Breakup
Our Christmas breakup this year was kindly hosted by Shane and Lorraine Coles at their home on 7 Dec. It turned out to be a double celebration as it also happened to be Shane’s birthday. The food was great, the company even better. As she did last year, Adelina Knight very kindly donated a number of Christmas cakes for us to raffle to raise a few extra dollars for the club. This is very much appreciated – thanks Adelina. Also as happened last year, Wayne Harris won the raffle, but this year he went one (or two) better – he took out all three prizes!!! All budding statisiticians are welcome to work out the probability of this happening. The President (who happened to be drawing the raffle) swears there was nothing sinister in this, but is having trouble convincing anyone.

Wishing all members and their families a very safe and Happy Christmas and New Year
Races At Hanging Rock – Australia Day 2008
On Saturday January 26th, we had a picnic/photography outing to the Australia Day Race Meeting at Hanging Rock. Mario arrived early and arranged a great spot for all of us, it was reasonably well shaded which was really good as it was a hot day, although it was quite a bit cooler there than the 38° C back in Geelong.
We all had a really good day, relaxing and taking photos of the races, bookmakers, food vendors and spectators at the race meeting, also some shots of the scenery around the place. Some of those who attended suggested we make it an annual event as they thought it was a really great day.
And it was a bit like the cricket as we had a streaker, who ran a full lap of the racecourse, which must have been nearly a kilometre or more before getting caught.
